Personally hand-bottled by Julian Van Winkle III at Old Commonwealth for Henry Preiss of California using the identical old Medley rye whiskey as in the coveted Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye from the same era.

The labels for this Hirsch Selection, which he bottled from 1998 to 2001 stayed the same even as the whisky aged, meaning that the last whiskey in the series was significantly older than 13 years – up to 16 or 17 years, according to Van Winkle.
